Truck Driver

Job Description:

As a Truck Driver, you will be responsible for transporting goods and materials over short or long distances, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to safety regulations. Your primary duties will include operating commercial vehicles, such as semi-trucks or delivery vans, loading and unloading cargo, and maintaining accurate records of deliveries and vehicle inspections. Additionally, you will need to communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and other drivers to coordinate schedules and resolve any issues that may arise during transportation.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Drive trucks or vans to transport goods and materials to designated locations.
  2. Load and unload cargo, ensuring proper handling and securing of items.
  3. Adhere to traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies while operating vehicles.
  4. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure functionality and safety.
  5. Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery times.
  6. Communicate with dispatchers, customers, and other drivers via radio, phone, or messaging systems to coordinate schedules and resolve transportation issues.
  7. Follow delivery instructions and routes provided by dispatchers or navigation systems.
  8. Handle paperwork, such as bills of lading and delivery confirmations, accurately and efficiently.
  9. Monitor vehicle maintenance and report any mechanical issues to supervisors promptly.
  10. Maintain a clean and organized truck or van, both inside and out.
  11. Adhere to deadlines and delivery schedules, adjusting plans as necessary to accommodate unforeseen circumstances or traffic delays.
  12. Represent the company in a professional and courteous manner when interacting with customers and the public.

Qualifications:

  1. Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for the type of vehicle being operated.
  2. Clean driving record with no major violations or accidents within the past five years.
  3. Proven experience as a truck driver or relevant position.
  4. Knowledge of safe driving practices and traffic laws.
  5. Ability to operate and maintain commercial vehicles, including knowledge of basic mechanical repairs.
  6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  7. Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  8. Physical stamina and strength to load and unload cargo as needed.
  9. Flexibility to work long hours, weekends, and holidays, as required.
  10. Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and electronic logging devices (ELDs) is a plus.
